Samoa Language Week 2014
Theme: ‘Taofi mau i au measina' - 'Hold fast to your cultural treasures’
The 2014 theme is an opportunity for teachers, students and the public to have conversations on what constitute a measina to Samoans.
To celebrate Samoan language week we have a variety of measina to celebrate. This includes the first performance of the NZ Anthem in the Samoan langauge on Sunday 25th May 2014 at 8.00pm on the Le Foafoa o Aotearoa programme on 531PI. This interpretation of the NZ Anthem was consulted with several members of our Samoan community all over New Zealand.
Selected Samoan book titles will also be discounted for the week at 20% off. Our book specials start from NZD$10.00 upwards so visit our Samoan bookstore.
We will have a free 'Samoan Siva' class on Wednesday 27th May 2014 at St Pauls College on 183 Richmond Road, Ponsonby Road. This class starts from 6.00pm to 8.00pm. Bring your friends and have some fun.
To encourage younger Samoan learners, we will also be releasing the "Word for the Day" during Samoan language week, as the Samoan langauge is measina for all Samoans everywhere in the world.
